Firefighters on 999 call in collision with car

A FIRE engine on an emergency call was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon.

The Tunbridge Wells crew were on their way to the scene of a serious crash at Spring Hill, near Penshurst, when they collided with a car at about 2.45pm. No-one was hurt and the engine only sustained minor damage.

A replacement crew rushed to the scene of the serious accident on Spring Hill, near Fordcombe, where five people were injured when two cars collided at about 2.30pm.

One woman was airlifted to Maidstone Hosptial and another man taken to hospital by land ambulance.

There are understood to have been three other casualties, but the extent of their injuries are not known.
