Tonbridge Angels v Fleet Town

TONBRIDGE Angels begin life in Ryman League Division 1 against Fleet Town on Saturday insisting promotion is the only target in their sights.

Chairman Nick Sullivan and manager Tony Dolby have worked during the summer to strengthen the squad and both men have confidence in the players.

Mr Sullivan said: "We’ve no divine right to promotion but we’ve put ourselves under pressure by building such a good squad. We’ve got to look to be in the shake up come March."

Dolby added: "Promotion’s got to be the target from my angle. Anything less won’t even be spoken about.

"We’ll require a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions but all in all, there’s not many excuses if we can hold the squad together."

The Angels boss confirmed striker Ray Powell has now registered with the club, making him the fifth signing of a busy close season.

He joins goalkeeper Jerome John, defenders Steve Aris and Darren Smith and striker Warren Houghton at Longmead.
