Firefighters took an hour to carefully remove a trapped woman from her vehicle after a two-car crash in Sittingbourne on Saturday.

It happened just before 1pm in Eurolink Way and caused severe traffic problems in the town because police had to close the road.

The woman, aged around 60, was taken to hospital suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

Sittingbourne fire station watch manager Mark Innes said: "It was a rear-end collision involving the woman's Renault and a 4x4. We had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of her car in order to get her out."
