Suspected Sittingbourne lawnmower thief charged after police helicopter pursuit on A2

A suspected lawnmower thief has been charged with more than 20 offences after a police chopper pursuit on the A2.

Oliver King is set to appear in court in connection with several break-ins including at a charity.

The 36-year-old, of Glenbrook Grove, allegedly broke into more than 10 properties in rural areas near Maidstone and Sittingbourne.

Items allegedly taken include power tools, bicycles, quad bikes and valuable machinery in the form of a John Deere lawnmower.

The alleged offences occurred between September 30 and November 7, 2021.

King was arrested in a vehicle on the A2 after a short pursuit involving the police helicopter on November 7.

He was later charged with more than 20 offences including six counts of theft, four counts of criminal damage, and twelve counts of burglary.

The suspect was bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on March 14.
