Sharnelle Gaynor won the three-round bout on a majority verdict

Sharnelle Gaynor tasted victory in her first bout and also earned Swale Gloves Amateur Boxing Club their maiden win during a recent show in Warden Bay.

The 11-year-old from Queenborough received a majority decision from the judges despite facing a more experienced fighter in Chloe Hemstock from the Trinity Club in Derby.

Gaynor started the bout strongly, aggressively pushing Hemstock back with viscous one two combinations, enabling her to convincingly take the opening round.

The second was a more even affair and the third and final round saw both boxers tiring, however, Ganor was again the more aggressive.

Swale Gloves coach John Williams said: “Sharnelle is one of our brightest prospects, she did great against a more experienced boxer, and its great to get our first win as a club, we are all very proud of her, she has the skill and talent to go right to the top in this sport”.

*Swale Gloves are open Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm-8.30pm at Kemsley Village Hall. For more details on the club visit www.swalegloves.co.uk.
