It is described as an “impressive Edwardian four-storey building, with trading areas on the ground floor and guest bedrooms on the upper floors.”

The property is the only hotel accommodation in the town centre and it is known for live music at weekends.

In October 2018 the hotel was featured on the reality show Four in a Bed.

The programme follows B&B owners who take turns staying with each other, as they compete to be crowned best hosts.

On the show at the time, partners Sarah Lewry and Gareth Segrove said they believed they offered great value for money.

All three of their guests said they’d stay again and the couple scored top marks on their hospitality.

However, they were marked down for their facilities, which included a lack of an iron and ironing board.

In response, Sarah said: “We can’t have irons in the rooms as they get stolen.

“We’re a budget hotel and you get what you pay for.”

Despite this, they came second overall.

When asked why the hotel was up for sale and if it would remain open, a spokesperson said: “The business is not expected to close as it’s doing very well.

“The holding company’s key count requirements for hotel investments have changed to larger key counts therefore the directors are looking to dispose.”

Rightmove advertises the hotel as having an independent reception area with an open plan bar at the front that seats around 50 people.

There is also a function room, with its own bar, split into two areas - the smaller one seating around 25 and the larger seating around 45 guests.

There is also a commercial kitchen with a separate wash-up area and a large basement cellar.

The hotel has 17 trading rooms,14 ensuite bedrooms for customers and three for staff.

However, the hotel does not have its own parking.

The business is being sold as an opportunity as it is: “Within easy reach of the shops, train station and beachfront, the hotel is well placed to attract business and benefits from a function room for parties and events.

“Food offering is also an area for expansion, especially during the day to attract shoppers and businesses.”

It is run by a manager and a team of full-time, part-time and casual staff.

However, the staff will not transfer over to any incoming buyer as the current owners intend to retain and move them to another location.
