A fund to help pay for the funeral of a young dad has reached £1,405.
The appeal was set up to help cover the costs for a service for Alex Arcadipane.
The 26-year-old died two days after his scooter was in collision with a car in Brielle Way, Sheerness, on February 10.
Last week, we reported how a crowdfunding page was set up on the gofundme website by Charlene Freshwater, 28, and Chris Davis, 31.
Speaking at the time, Ms Freshwater said: “He was so young and because of that fact something like a funeral had never been thought out.
“There is no way of making this easier for Alex’s dad or his two young daughters, but we can at least make the expenses a little easier for his family,”
By yesterday morning, the hoped-for £1,000 total had been smashed with donations coming in from 68 people.
Responding to this, Ms Freshwater, of Lovell Road, Minster, said: “We would have been happy if we raised £500 but to reach over a £1,000 is amazing.
“Obviously a funeral costs a lot more than that but the money is certainly going to help and we know Alex would have been grateful for the kindness shown by the community.”
Mr Arcadipane was a single dad to two young girls.
The police investigation into the crash is ongoing with officers looking into the possibility brake fluid on the road may have played a part.
The gofundme page is due to close on Friday, the day of Alex’s funeral.
