A stitch in time for island's knits...

The super-warm tower
The super-warm tower

When is a scarf not a scarf - when it's wrapped around the town clock of course!

This 45-long scarf was the brainchild of a Sheerness knitting group, called Swampy Ewe-Knitted.

But when you've completed your work, and you know Aunty Beryl doesn't want another neck warmer for Christmas there's only one thing for it - give it to the clock.

At a presentation on Saturday, members of the club decorated the clock tower in High Street, Sheerness, with the scarf.

The huge scarf wrapped round the clock more than four times and the group is hoping it will stay up there until the Christmas lights in the town come down.
