Kent Reliance are calling for nominations and are keen to champion the initiative devised by the KM Charity Team.

Amie Snowden of Kent Reliance, said: “Nothing is more important to us than providing support to important community services such as the Kent Literacy Awards. Recognising the hard work teachers and school staff do to improve children’s core skills is greatly humbling, and it helps raise awareness to fellow learning institutions across the county.”

Nominations are now officially open for the Kent Literacy Awards and are accepted from support staff, pupils, management and fellow teachers across schools in Kent, Medway and Bexley.

A large variety of categories are available including Best Circle Time, Best use of drama to promote writing, speaking and listening skills, Best use of Art and Poetry, and Best speaking competition or debating club.

The awards will be hosted at a formal evening held at Sittingbourne’s Hempstead House Hotel and Spa at the end of June. Kent Reliance and fellow event ambassadors will take a place on the judging panel.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team which organises the awards, said: “Spreading best practice across the county’s schools and commending staff for gifting children with strong literacy skills is at the very heart of the awards. I sincerely hope many people take the time to submit a nomination; it’s the perfect way to say thank you.”
