A manager from Canterbury is in the final stages of training for the Great South Run despite a recent injury.
Eddie Allen, 29, group quality manager for Marine Travel Company, will be joining the crowds setting off in Portsmouth on Sunday to complete the 10 mile road running event.
He entered the event to raise money for the Southampton-based Sailors’ Society, which is the Marine Travel Company’s chosen charity.
Despite severely spraining his ankle a few weeks ago, which dented his training progress, Eddie has bounced back, thanks to his wife who is a physiotherapist.
He said: “I may not complete the race as fast as I had originally hoped, but I’ll finish it.
“With the industry we are in, which involves flying seafarers around the globe, the chance to support a charity that helps these guys in a time of need is something quite close to us all.”
