Hollands & Blair 0 Greenwich Borough 0 match report

A fantastic one-handed save in stoppage time denied Hollands & Blair three points in the Southern Counties East title race on Saturday.

Greenwich keeper Craig Holloway got down brilliantly to turn behind James McDonald's right-foot curler two minutes into injury time.

It kept his side a point ahead in the title race with just five games left to play as the two teams battle it out for the one promotion slot to the Ryman League.

Blair started brightly with Tom Michelson dragging a right-foot shot wide of the upright inside 12 seconds.

They had the ball in the net after four minutes but Rob Denness' header was ruled out for a foul in the penalty area by another Blair attacker.

Greenwich responded immediately as former Dartford midfielder Peter Sweeney curled a 20-yard free-kick over the bar.

But in truth, playing up the slope, Greenwich rarely threatened in the opening 45 minutes.

It was Blair and the dangerous delivery of Bryan Greenfield that appeared their best chance of creating an opening.

McDonald fired low at keeper Craig Holloway just before the half-hour while the striker nearly broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. Sam Welch's long throw caused problems in the Borough penalty area but McDonald's header went back across goal and agonisingly wide of the upright.

Greenwich enjoyed more of the play at the start of the second half, although the closest they came was when Blair gave the ball away cheaply and Ryan Dolby curled a 20-yard shot wide of the post.

However, chances were few and far between at either end as the stakes got higher the longer the game went on. One mistake was going to prove costly in the title race and while both teams have been free-scoring, they cancelled each other out - not helped by the swirling wind.
