A teenager had to be talked down from Rochester Bridge last night after threatening to jump.
The 17-year-old boy was spotted by a member of the public on the wrong side of the railings just after 9pm on Friday.
Officers from Kent Police, Medway Coastguard and the Sheerness inshore lifeboat team were called to the scene.
Special negotiators from Kent Police spent an hour talking to the teenager before he eventually climbed back over the railings at about 10pm.
He was detained by police under the Mental Health Act and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, in Gillingham.
After being assessed by the mental health team, the teenager was discharged taken home by officers.
