A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after paramedics had to resuscitate him on a busy high street this morning.
Police and paramedics were called to Chatham High Street at 10.20am to reports of concern for a man outside Primark and the Betfred betting shop.
The man, who is aged approximately in his 50s, was found unconscious and not responding.
A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "He did need to be resuscitated at the scene before being taken in a serious condition to Medway Maritime Hospital."
A passerby said she saw the man lying on a bench surrounded by police and ambulance crew members.
At least three police cars, an ambulance and two paramedic cars attended the incident.
A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 10.19am on Wednesday 5 August to a report of concern for a man in the area of High Street, Chatham.
"South Coast East Ambulance Service attended and a man has been taken to hospital."
