Eleven teenage boys have been charged with violent disorder after a 50-year-old man and his son were attacked.

The charges have been made following an investigation into an incident that happened on February 27 at Church Green, Strood between 8:30pm and 9:15pm.

The man had cuts and bruises as a result of the attack after an argument. His 19-year-old son was attacked when he went to help.

Both were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

Two 15-year-olds, five 16-year-olds, three 17-year-olds from Rochester and Strood have been charged with violent disorder.

Eighteen-year-old Ajay Sampla of Gordon Road, Strood, has been charged with the same offence.

One of the 15 year olds has also been charged with breaching an existing anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).

Another 15 year old was charged with Actual Bodily Harm (ABH).

Speaking at the time of the arrests Det Sgt Dan Smith said: "This was an unprovoked incident, and fortunately the victim did not suffer serious injuries.

"Making these arrests on the first day of the Easter holidays also sends out a clear message that behaviour of this kind will not be tolerated."

All eleven have been released on bail until August 25 when they will appear at Medway Youth Court.

Thirteen teenagers were originally arrested but two were released without charge.
