Stones title push goes to last day

Ashford Town 1 Maidstone United 1

MAIDSTONE'S title party was put on hold on Tuesday night after they drew at Ashford in Ryman League Division 1 South.

After taking a second half lead through an Errision Ahwan header, the Stones were pegged back when Ashford's George Fenwick equalised from a corner.

Maidstone were by far the better side but paid for their failure to kill the game off while they were dominant.

Ryan Royston and Mo Takaloo squandered late opportunities to win the game, but Town also had two chances of their own in the dying moments.

It means that the title will be decided on the final day of the season. Maidstone know that a win at Walton Casuals will see them promoted as champions.

But if the Stones lose, then either Tooting & Mitcham or Dover - who won at Corinthian Casuals in midweek - could yet claim the title.
