Maidstone were left with plenty to ponder after leaking four goals to Blue Square South Welling on Saturday.

The Stones fielded a stronger side than the one that went down to Kent League Erith & Belvedere on Tuesday but failed to impress in humid conditions at Park View Road.

Welling went ahead on 20 minutes when Joe Healy scored and the same player made it 2-0 nine minutes later when he latched on to an error by former Gillignham defender Ian Cox.

Maidstone fielded two former Welling players up front in James Pinnock and Lloyd Blackman. Both went close in the first half, although Blackman was left red-faced with one miss from close-range just before the interval.

Charlie Sheringham's close-range effort made it 3-0 on 58 minutes and substitute Sol Pinnock added the fourth as Maidstone, who start their league campaign a week later than Welling, lacked shape and fitness in the final half-hour.
