Rowland lay-off a huge blow to Stones

OUT FOR SEASON: Lynden Rowland

Maidstone v Margate

MAIDSTONE United striker Lyndon Rowland is set to miss the rest of the season after damaging knee ligaments in the Ryman League Premier Division derby defeat against Tonbridge Angels.

The 32-year old experienced marksman scored his 10th goal of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Longmead Stadium, before limping off seven minutes from time.

Joint-boss Alan Walker said: "It's a big blow to lose Lyndon. He has still to see a specialist, but I think he could be out for sometime. We will miss him because his work-rate and commitment are first class."

Midfielders James Peacock and Sam Tydeman are back in the squad for the visit of Margate to Bourne Park on Saturday, as Stones look to record a double against the Thanet club, after winning 4-3 at Hartsdown Park in November, having been 3-1 down.

Walker said: "I have seen them a few times, and they are a good side, big and strong, with some very talented players. We must make home advantage count, but I am expecting another very tough game."
