Maidstone 3 Hendon 2

AN 87th-minute goal by Lynden Rowland secured a crucial three points for Maidstone United against Hendon at Bourne Park on Saturday.

Rowland bundled the ball home from close range after Aaron Lacy's long throw had been flicked on to earn the home side a 3-2 win.

The Stones had taken a 33rd-minute lead when 18-year-old debutant Andy Pugh, who signed on loan from Gillingham on Friday, sent a glorious 25-yard effort into the top corner.

But Hendon were level almost immediately when poor defending allowed Lee O'Leary to equalise from close range and Maidstone were punished for another defensive lapse four minutes before the break when Hendon's Brian Halue netted after a goalmouth scramble.

But Jacob Erskine drew the Stones level midway through the second half when he turned well and scored his second in two games from the edge of the box and it was left to Rowland to have the last word.
