LLOYD HUME today confirmed Maidstone United had signed Andy Martin after the striker had played for Welling against Charlton on Wednesday night.

Hune said: "We were aware of Welling’s interest in him. He has been a little bit wayward since he came out of the pro game, but he is aware of my and Alan Walker’s reputation for getting the best out of ex-pros and he wanted to work for us."

Hume is playing a wait-and-see game over another target, Tony Sinclair, who also played for the Wings on Wednesday night. Work committments mean Sinclair is presently unable to train with the Stones, but Hume admitted: "If a player of that quality became available the day before the start of the season and you offered him to me, I’d take him."
