Maidstone United striker Dumebi Dumaka speaks about his dream debut after signing from Grays

Dumebi Dumaka already feels at home at Maidstone United.

A whirlwind 24 hours saw Dumaka sign from Grays on Friday night, meet his new team-mates when he boarded the bus to Bishop's Stortford on Saturday, then score a debut winner after Jay Saunders threw him straight into the side.

The striker's header sent United back up to second place in National League South and he would have had a hat-trick had two more efforts not got stuck in the mud.

Dumaka said: "I only found out I was playing when Jay read the teamsheet out.

"I came down on Friday night to register. I wasn’t sure if it would get done in time but I’m glad it did and when he read my name out, I was ready to go.

"It was the first time I’d met everyone when I got on the bus but all the boys have been good.

"I knew Manny Parry from Grays and I played against Maidstone last season so I do recognise a lot of the faces.

"The coaching staff have been great, they welcomed me straight away, so I feel comfortable already.

"It was great to get straight into it with a goal and hopefully there are a lot more to come."
