Signalling problems at Gravesend are causing delays to Maidstone and Medway commuters

Hundreds of commuters are experiencing delays this evening because of signalling problems in Gravesend.

Trains from London Charing Cross and London St Pancras to Medway and Maidstone are being disrupted by the issue which was reported at 5.30pm.

The line was initially closed between Dartford and Gravesend but has since reopened. The line remains closed between Ebbsfleet and Gravesend.

All three high speed services between St Pancras and Maidstone were cancelled as a result of disruption.

Commuters enduring delays took to Twitter to complain.

A spokesman for Southeastern said: "Because of signalling problems in the Gravesend area, we cannot run services from Dartford to Gravesend, or from Ebbsfleet to Gravesend."

Services heading towards the city are running without delay.

Tickets are being accepted on local buses.
