TWO mothers are threatening to take to the streets in protest unless paedophile Robert Oliver is moved from Kent's county town.

Dione McCormack and Laura Bennett are collecting signatures for a petition but say if this does not work they will start protesting.

Oliver, who was sentenced to 15 years in jail for his part in the manslaughter of 14-year-old Jason Swift, moved to a hostel in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, at the beginning of the year. He had been living in Somerset, but people found his address and hounded him out.

The pair, who are both from Maidstone, have written to Maidstone and Weald MP Ann Widdecombe.

Miss Widdecombe said: "I fully understand where these ladies are coming from, but it is in all our interests to know where this man is."

Kent Probation Area reiterated that Oliver was highly monitored by agencies, including the probation service and the police.

KPA's chief officer Hilary James said: "I would be more than happy to meet these ladies and discuss their concerns."
