Police cordon in Brewer Street in Maidstone after rape

Police have cordoned off an area off Brewer Street in Maidstone after an alleged rape of a man.

The alleyway between the two public car parks in the road has been sealed off since 10pm last night.

Four police officers are still at the scene, but the incident is said to have happened last night around 7.30pm.

Police said the victim, a man is his 20s, was walking along an alleyway between Brewer Street and Union Street.

There is no description of the male suspect and the area has been cordoned while inquiries are under way.

Officers are appealing for information that may assist their investigation.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 604 100, quoting reference 46/204772/19.

Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or complete the online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.orgit was an "active investigation" but have not yet given more details.
