Broken down lorry in town centre causes long delays in Maidstone

Drivers are facing long delays through Maidstone due to a broken down lorry.

Kent Highways said the A229 Bishops Way was blocked heading towards the bridge system at around 6.45am.

The incident impacted the one-way system and connecting roads, with traffic queuing for 3.5 miles.

A second lorry cab was also called in to take the broken down cab's trailer away once it was recovered.

Recovery teams have since been in attendance and all lanes are now open but drivers are warned to expect ongoing delays.
