Women's soccer side seeks new boss

ONE of Whitstable’s most successful football teams is on the lookout for a new manager.

Whitstable Town Ladies won the Kent Surburban League title at the first attempt last season, and have won four of their opening five matches this time out.

Championship-winning manager Lorna Shilling had to stand down at the end of the season, and her successor Tony Keen has also now been forced to quit for personal reasons.

Club secretary Layla Omer is filling the role temporarily but admits she has no intention of taking the job on permanently.

She said: “What we need is someone who can run the team from the line and give us advice. I appreciate being a manager is a tough job but we’ve a good squad of 19 and we’re well organised.”

Miss Omer says the club would prefer someone with managerial experience, but enthusiasm is the main requirement.

Town Ladies train under floodlights at Herne Bay High School from 7.30-9pm every Friday and matches are played on Sunday afternoons, usually kicking-off at 2pm. Their home pitch is at Westmeads rec, Whitstable.

Furher details about the post may be obtained from Layla Omer on either 01227 771822, or 0794 1319471.
