WELLING missed out on the chance to regain a play-off spot after Danny Kedwell's injury time equaliser was ruled out for offside.

The Wings, who had earlier led through Martin Carthy, thought they had snatched a dramatic point when Kedwell headed in Ellis Green's right-wing cross.

But, much to the amazement of the Wings faithful, the goal was ruled out by a late offside flag.

Welling had taken a 25th-minute lead against the run of play. Robbie Matthews and Matt Tubbs had both gone close for the visitors before Carthy turned in Joe Bruce's cross for the Wings.

Salisbury equalised early in the second half when Welling failed to clear keeper Ryan Clarke's long free-kick and Matthews was on hand to score.

The visitors went ahead with 17 minutes left when a corner was only cleared as far as Luke Prince and his stunning 25-yard effort proved too good for keeper Jamie Turner.

Welling pushed defender Steve Perkins up front in search of an equaliser and they thought it had come before the controversial offside call from the officials.

The Wings, who remain three points off the play-off places, travel to Yeading this Saturday.
