PHIL CHARD: still to decide on final squad
PHIL CHARD: still to decide on final squad

THE player-coach of the Medway-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team, Phil Chard, says he has his new team visualised in his mind but stresses there's still time for players to make their mark.

Preparations for the season in English National League (South) are well under way and the club are holding trials for new, current Dynamos and Mustangs players in two weeks' time.

Chard said: “I know who I want but the two trial sessions will go a long way in deciding the final team.”

Last season’s netminder and British player of the year Matt Van Der Velden, who announced last month that he was leaving, now looks set to be joining the London Racers.

Chard said: “Vandy is a great netminder and if everything goes to plan he could be one of the guys who return to play for us the season after next. The Racers have two sides, one who will play in the new Elite League and one in the English National Premier League."
