Saturday football round-up

BROMLEY suffered an embarrassing 3-2 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Redbridge in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

George Wakeling's side were 1-0 up at the break through a Jones Awuah strike, but a second half hat-trick from the appropriately named Ian Luck gave the home side their first win of the season.

A second Awuah goal wasn't enough for the visitors who conceded three in the send half for the second game in a row.

Margate's poor form continued with a 1-0 defeat at home against Leyton.

In a match Chris Kinnear's side dominated the only goal was scored against the run of play in the 73rd minute by Leyton's Thomas. Gate's misery was complete when they missed a late penalty.

In Ryman League Division 1, two goals by Shaun Welford and one by Stefan Ball gave Ramsgate a comfortable win against Kent rivals Ashford Town at Homelands.

Ashford full-back Jamie Smith was sent off with the score at 1-0 and Ramsgate responded with two goals in the last six minutes to wrap up victory.

Tonbridge Angels also enjoyed a fine 3-0 win at Hastings United and Cray Wanderers came back from three goals down to force a 3-3 draw at home against Leatherhead.

Dover Athletic had to settle for a point from their match against Fleet Town at Crabble after Tommy Tyne's opener was cancelled out by a penalty.

A hat-trick by James Carter helped Dartford to a 4-2 win against Enfield at Stonebridge Road in Southern League Division 1 East. Ryan Hayes scored their fourth goal.

But it wasn't such good news for Sittingbourne who went down 2-1 at Wingate & Finchley.

In the same division Chatham Town took a point from a dull encounter art Ilford. In a game of very few chances the closest either side came to a goal was when Luke Harvey had a shot saved before the keeper alos foiled Brendan Cass on the rebound.

* Folkestone Invicta enjoyed a 2-1 win at Wealdstone in the Ryman League Premier Division on Friday night.

Jermaine Beckford converted Rob Ursell's cross to give the home side the lead, but James Dryden levelled for Invicta six minutes before the break and then won it with 14 minutes to play after a terrible clearance by Wealdstone keeper Glenn Jackson had fallen to Stuart Myall.
