KENT’S rising cricket star Sam Northeast has been invited to play for Sir Paul Getty’s XI against the Sri Lankans in a one-day tour game at the Wormsley Estate in Buckinghamshire next Tuesday.

The 16-year-old from Walmer, near Deal, is named in the side to be captained by MCC’s John Stephenson. the side is also set to include Graeme Hick, former Zimbabwe skipper Tatenda Taibu and Kent professionals Neil Dexter and Matt Dennington.

Northeast, a Kent academy scholar and pupil at Harrow, warmed up for the game by hitting 122 and taking four for 21 in his school’s two-run Cowdrey Cup win over Charterhouse in his first match of the season last week.
