Plenty of deadline day activity

OUT: Francis Jeffers has joined Rangers on loan

CHARLTON were busy on transfer deadline day and made two last minute signings.

Former Arsenal, Coventry and Blackburn striker Jay Boothroyd was snapped up from Italian side Perugia just before the transfer window slammed shut on Wednesday night.

The move came shortly after the club secured the signing of Iceland under-17 international midfielder Rurik Gislason from HK Kopavogur.

Charlton chief executive Peter Varney told the club's official website: "Rurik is an extremely highly-rated player throughout Europe, as can be seen by the quality of clubs that have been interested in signing him."

The deals brought the number of players signed during the summer transfer window to 10.

It wasn't all incomings at The Valley, however, as Francis Jeffers joined Glasgow Rangers on a four-month loan deal.
