Mote Cricket Club first team skipper Glen Auckett is recovering in Ashford's William Harvey Hospital after suffering a heart attack after Saturday's home game against Broadstairs.

Auckett, 37, is hoping to be discharged at the end of the week after feeling unwell. Earlier, he had taken two wickets and scored 11 runs in a match The Mote won by two wickets.

"He thought it was a touch of indigestion but it proved more serious than that," said his wife Debbie, speaking from the family home near Ashford.

"He is on the road to recovery and I hope to have him home by the weekend.

"It's too early to say whether he will play cricket again this season."
