COOPER: "We might look at a couple of positions because we don't have major amounts of experienced cover"

GILLINGHAM manager Neale Cooper has said his squad is still not complete, despite three signings last week.

Veteran striker Steve Claridge has joined the club on a match by match basis, Trinidad and Tobago international defender Brent Sancho has been signed permanently, and teenage forward Moses Ashikodi has been loaned from Premiership side West Ham United.

All three made their debuts in the 1-0 win against Bournemouth at Priestfield on Saturday.

After the exodus of players in the summer following relegation from the Coca Cola Championship, Cooper is glad to be building a larger squad but he insists there is more to be done.

He said: "West Ham have helped us because it’s not cost us anything with Moses.

"Bringing in Brent I thought he looked good when he came on and it’s been a long week for him, travelling to America.

"I still feel before the end of the transfer window we might look at a couple of positions because we don’t have major amounts of experienced cover."

Gills have been linked with a move for another striker, with Inverness's Steve Hislop, who Cooper worked with at Ross County, was expected to sign on Tuesday.
