FORMER Welling player-manager Neil Smith is expected to sign for Bromley in time for the Kent Senior Cup quarter-final against Tonbridge Angels tonight.

Smith, who was suspended at the weekend, was released from his playing contract at Welling on Monday and is free to join another club.

He will bring much-needed experience to Bromley's squad and new boss Simon Osborn said: “It will be good to have other people around me who can help the younger players develop and iron out mistakes and Neil fits that bill.

“He trained with us to keep himself in shape after Welling released him and he seemed to enjoy it, so we had a chat, he wants to play for Bromley and we want him here.”
