Matt Haines was part of the England side that narrowly lost their chance of regaining the Men’s Team Championship after suffering defeat to Ireland.
England lost 4.5-2.5 in the final against the defending champions at the Royal Park Golf Club in Turin.
Haines, who plays out of Rochester & Cobham, shot a two-under par 70 on the two opening days to help England qualify fourth for the quarter-finals and earn a meeting with host side Italy.
Against Italy, Haines opened up alongside Charlie Ford and they beat Andrea Pavan and Matteo Manassero as England comfortably won 5.5-1.5.
England met France in the semi-final and ran out 5-2 winners. Haines and Ford lost in the foursomes and the Rochester golfer halved his singles game against David Antoneli.
Haines lost his final match against Ireland’s Niall Kearney.
