KENT FA chairman Barry Bright was on the FA board that sacked England manager Steve McClaren this morning.

McClaren was dismissed following an emergency FA board meeting which started at 8.30am.

The meeting was hastily arranged following England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

McClaren refused to resign after last night's 3-2 against Croatia at Wembley which sealed their fate.

Mr Bright, from Cobham, near Gravesend, was joined by five representatives from the professional game. They were Manchester United chief executive David Gill, Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards, Bolton chairman Phil Gartside, Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks and Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney.

Dave Henson (Devon FA), Michael Game (Essex FA), Roger Burden (Gloucestershire FA) and John Ward (Hampshire FA) represented the amateur game.
