Woman hit by car in Maidstone town centre

A woman has been taken to hospital on a spinal board after being hit by a car in Maidstone town centre this afternoon.

The pedestrian, believed to be in her 60s, was knocked down by a black Ford Fiesta at about 1.30pm.

It happened by traffic lights on Tonbridge Road, outside Maidstone West railway station.

The crash was witnessed by passengers on a packed Arriva bus.

The female car driver was questioned by police.

The Air Ambulance was circling the area, but the injured woman was transported by road ambulance.

Tonbridge Road remains open to drivers.
