Two charged after shooting

Two men have been remanded in custody after a man was shot in the head and stomach.

It comes after armed police were called to Moorhen Walk, Greenhithe, at 9.50pm on Monday but found the address empty.

Later in the evening, a 51-year-old man was brought in by relatives to Darent Valley Hospital and he was treated for gunshot wounds to his head and abdomen. He is in a stable condition.

Billy Nelson Smith, 24, of Moorhen Walk, Greenhithe, and 42-year-old Billy Smith, of Hillhouse Road, Stone, have both been charged with GBH with intent.

They appeared before Chatham magistrates today, and were remanded in custody for a trial date yet to be decided..

Three others have also been arrested on suspicion of helping an offender.

A 19-year-old woman and a 44-year-old woman, both from Sidcup, and a 23- year-old woman from Greenhithe have been bailed until September 27.
