Senegal will be heading to Medway this summer after qualifying for the London Olympics on Monday night.

The Africans are set to be based at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium ahead of the summer football tournament.

It is where they will prepare to face Stuart Pearce's Great Britain side who they were paired with for the opening game of the tournament on July 26 when the draw was made on Tuesday.

A 2-0 win over Oman in Coventry was enough to send Senegal into the Olympics for the first time in the nation’s history.

Sixteen teams will take part in the Olympic football tournament with the final taking place at Wembley on August 11.

The Senegal olympic squad will be training at Medway Park in Gillingham this summer before moving to the Olympic Park to compete.

Gillingham were due to face Senegal in a friendly match, before the played their qualifier in Coventry, but the match was cancalled almost as soon as it was announced due to confusion who had the right to organise fixtures for the country.

The Gills may again attempt to arrange a friendly, in the summer, ahead of Senegal’s involvement in the games.
