Port jobs transferred to private firm

The first 68 jobs of a possible 190 at the Port of Dover have been transfered to a private company.

Port workers had previously held two bouts of industrial action over the privatisation of jobs at the port.

Talks between Dover Harbour Board and the Unite union about the remaining 122 jobs are contiuning, with a decison expected by February 1.

The security staff officially switched over to work for G4S today
