Oops, they’ve done it again. Medway Council’s mobile CCTV unit has been photographed parked on double yellow lines even though unmarked spaces were available.

The Smart car, which targets drivers breaking parking regulations, was outside St Margaret’s at Troy Town Primary School in King Street, Rochester, at the end of the school day on May 20.

One motorist, who didn’t want to be named, said: “I don’t understand how the officers in the CCTV car can park on double yellow lines when they are trying to catch other motorists parking illegally. It’s hypocritical.

“There was no need to park on double yellow lines. There were spaces in the road outside the school and there was enough room to get a car in there.

“It’s just double standards again, and you would think they would learn by their mistakes as people keep taking pictures of them parking illegally and giving them to the paper to publish. No wonder people are angry.”

Medway Council’s parking manager Rubena Hafizi said: “Enforcement vehicles are allowed to park in restricted areas to carry out enforcement activity. However, staff are instructed to avoid such action whenever possible.”
