MG Rover could be back in production.

The Chinese owners of MG Rover are in talks with General Motors with a view to distributing products through the company’s dealer network.

SAIC Motor Corp purchased the remains of the defunct UK manufacturer in 2007 and has since been retailing MG TF models through a limited number of dealers in the UK.

However, the company is now seeking to build on a successful relationship with GM in China that could see the MG TF, pictured, and the MG 6 model sold alongside GM’s UK brands, Vauxhall and Chevrolet.

The MG 6 is due to begin production in China and at the Longbridge UK facility in 2011.
