Live football will be beamed from Priestfield on Monday night and boss Martin Allen believes it’s about time.

The Gills have sat top of League 2 for most of the season but until now they have not been chosen for coverage on any of the sporting channels.

And Allen admitted that the lack of attention from the national networks was frustrating.

He said: “It’s about time Sky did come down and watch us play. I’m surprised we are not on Match of the Day and we never get any credit on the Football League show on a Saturday night.

“We have been top of the league all season and never get any positive comments from anybody. The players have had no credit at all. Everyone thought we would be mid-table challenging for the play-offs.”

He added: “It will be fantastic for our players and fantastic for Sky.

“I watched Wycombe beat Dagenham last Saturday, they played well and it will be a good game.

“They play good football and you see we try and play good football. It should be a good night.”
