A teenager has been involved in a Twitter row with Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon after auditioning for the show with her mum.

Abbey Jordan, 14, and Dawn Matthews, 38, tried out for the show as double act Like Mother Like Daughter at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

Dawn sang, while her daughter rapped - but their act received a 'no' from judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Carmen Electra.

Their first number was the Plan B song She Said, which was meant to be followed by Ironik's version of the Elton John song Tiny Dancer.

But Cowell interrupted the Rochester pair during their first song and asked Abbey to perform on her own.

He branded Dawn a "pub singer", but did say she looked good for her age, while Alesha Dixon said Dawn's voice was "not strong enough".

After the show, Abbey tweeted to Alesha (pictured right): "I'm the girl out of 'like mother like daughter' at auditions today, before you slag of my mums singing? Listen to yourself!"

The message drew a strong response from the judge, who replied: "I was lovely 2 u yesterday! when you've grown up, sorted out ya attitude and sold some records come back and talk to me :) xxx"

The teenager also hit out at Little Britain star Walliams, claiming he was not as funny in person and calling for previous judge Piers Morgan to come back.

Abbey and Alesha exchanged a number of tweets, which ended with the judge wishing her luck.

Dawn, of Bingham Road, said she did not regret going on the show.

She said: "It was an interesting day, let's put it that way. I did it for Abbey. I really didn't think it would work but it did. To get to be one of the 98 [auditioning on the day] is a big ask."

The Britain's Got Talent auditions are due to air on ITV1 this spring.
