Gary Rhodes talks to the Medway Messenger

Top chef Gary Rhodes took time out from opening his new restaurant in Dorset to talk school dinners and gypsy tarts.

In the latest edition of our print edition -out Thursday - the food King looks back at his early years growing up in the Medway Towns, including an early sprout horror.

He said:“At school they forced you to eat these sprouts, and at that age I couldn’t abide them.

"And when you consider in that age, when they cooked sprouts until they were yellow, they stank and well, I did vomit.”
