A HUGE fire has swept through a public house in a Kent village. .
It took hold in the roof of the Red Lion at Bridge, near Canterbury, just after 1am on Thursday and fire crews were still damping down heatspots many hours later.
The building, on the corner of the High Street and Patrixbourne Road, was being renovated by its new owners.
Six appliances and a height vehicle were called to deal with the blaze. No one was hurt and the fire was mostly confined to the roof.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “A fire investigation team is looking into the cause of the fire and that is at a preliminary stage.
“Due to the swift attendance and response of our crews we were able to prevent further damage to the building.”
