A mid-movie row sparked a fiery cinema brawl after a woman poured a drink over another film fan's head - for screaming at a horror flick.

The two drunken women scrapped at the Kavanagh cinema, in Herne Bay, after the fight broke out during The Woman in Black.

It is believed one of them was annoyed the other was screaming out loud during the jumpy Daniel Radcliffe thriller.

After an exchange of words, she bought a Pepsi and returned to the theatre - where she was said to have poured it over the other woman's head.

The resulting scrap spilled into the foyer and a plastic noticeboard was flung across the room as the pair had what was described as a "full-scale fight".

Staff managed to split the women up and called police, but they had fled by the time officers arrived at about 8.40pm on Saturday.

Cinema owner Robert Johnson - who saved it from administration two years ago - blamed the incident on "silly season".

He said: "The Woman in Black is attracting lots of people who have not been to a cinema in ages. They don't know how to behave.

"it's a thriller which makes you jump, but there's no need to actually scream out loud…” – cinema owner robert johnson

"Because it's Daniel Radcliffe people think it's Harry Potter, but it's not. It's a thriller which makes you jump, but there's no need to actually scream out loud. We think that's what caused the problem.

"The women involved should really know better at their age. We don't know who they were or where they live.

"The film carried on and I think most of the audience were oblivious to what was happening outside.

"It's silly season. We're open 52 weeks of the year and this is the first incident like this.

"It's terrible really that adults will do this sort of thing. It's not fair on the staff that had to deal with it."

Tom Holmes, who watched the film with his 12-year-old brother and was offered free tickets afterwards, said: "These people weren't just a little bit tipsy - they were battered. They should have never been let in.

"I could forgive a bit of noise, but some of the language they were coming out with was unacceptable. It's not what I want my little brother to hear. I try to keep him away from it."
