POLICE are looking for the owners of a Chubb metal and concrete safe found by firefighters by the side of the road.

It was discovered at Molehill Road, Whitstable, on Saturday, November 5, at around 8pm and had been set alight.

The safe had been opened and still contained a large amount of change but any paper money had been removed. It is currently with police who are still waiting for someone to report it being stolen.

A spokesman said: "You would imagine that someone would notice that a large safe was missing from the corner of their office and have reported it to police by now.

"Despite checks made throughout Kent and beyond we have not been able to find the owner and link the safe with a crime.”

Anyone who wishes to claim the safe or who has any information is asked to telephone Canterbury Police on 01227 762055.
