Seriously ill and out of work, Trevor Clarke should have been looking for something that was less of a risk.

Instead, he convinced his wife that making a film was a good idea.

Trevor, 51, of Windmill Hill, Gravesend, could have used his severance money to pay off the mortgage or get a new car but he embarked on a life in the movies.

Consequence features people and places around Gravesend.

He said: “Stress played a huge part in my job as general manager for a huge corporation running a multi-million pound business.

"Doctor’s orders were that I needed to stop what I was doing immediately or face a stroke or heart attack.

"As time went on I agreed a severance package and found new work with flexible hours.

“I decided to take a gamble with money I never thought I would have and invest in a film.”

The father-of-four had already been in the music business and performs in the town with Tony Frost as the TNT Effect.

Their music was chosen to be featured in a film called Coolio, a comedy gangster film with a time travel twist, also partly filmed in Gravesend.

Consequence came about by chance through his association with another Gravesend friend and actor Paul Dewdney, who was also involved with Coolio.

Trevor said: “He introduced me to the writer and director Si Wall along with the main actress Katie Richmond. When I read the script, knew I had to make it.”

Within six weeks, Trevor and the production team were in Gravesend filming scenes with locations including The Prom, clothes shop For Girlys on Stone Street, wedding shop Bridle Wardrobe in the High Street, Northfleet Cemetery, Jeskyns Park, the Millers Cottage pub on Shrubbery Road and Gravesham Theatre Guild.

Consequence is about a person who gets a chance to live one day in her life without any consequences.

It premieres next Thursday at the Genesis cinema in London and major studios in Hollywood are already said to be interested.
