Bike rider and son hurt in crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an accident last night involving a car and a motorcycle which happened on the A26 Hadlow Road at Hadlow, near Tonbridge.

At about 8pm a motorcyclist travelling towards Tonbridge was in collision with a red Ford Fiesta car coming in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist was trapped beneath the wheels of the car and his pillion passenger, his 11-year-old son, was thrown from the bike onto the roadside verge.

Firefighters attended to help release the motorcyclist, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he is being treated for leg and head injuries, broken ribs and a broken pelvis. His condition was described as "stable". The motorcyclist's son suffered a broken arm. Both are from south London.

The female car driver, who lives in Tonbridge, was treated for shock but was otherwise unhurt. Anyone who saw the accident or who may have other information is asked to contact PC Gary Brackley on 01732 771055.
