Beers galore

Kent Beer Festival 2011
Kent Beer Festival 2011

The 2011 Kent Beer Festival runs until Saturday, July 23, including beers from 20 Kent breweries.

Now in its 37th year, the event is the second oldest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) beer festival in England and takes place at Merton Farm, near Canterbury.

As well as Kentish ales, there are beers from the rest of the Britain as well as real cider and foreign bottled beers. In all there will be more than 120 real ales to try.

There will also be a cooking demo and chat from the Beer Chef on Friday as well as world folk from Hot Rats and blues rock from Crossfire.

Saturday’s entertainment consists of string quartet Stringendo, magician Mr Fizz, jazz rock from Strait Eight, the Wantsum Morris Men and skiffle from Goosebumps. Festival-goers can also try their hand at archery with the Canterbury Archers.

Friday evening admission is £7 and Saturday admission is £5. Call 01227 463478.
